L’univers photonarratif de Charline Lancel
Couloirs, fruits rouges, groupes d’enfants, colliers de perles, jolies créatures, scènes de la vie quotidienne, vues anodines rendues particulières par un regard qui ne l’est pas moins… Tel est l’univers photographique de Charline Lancel. Plus spécifiquement, un univers que l’on peut nommer ‘photonarratif’, aussi éloigné du photo roman qu’on peut l’être… Un univers nourri pourtant d’inspirations (et d’aspirations) narratives, comme en témoignent ces séries, nous racontant un moment, moment de poésie, matiné de mystère et de sensualité. Séries telles de brèves danses, faites de courbes, de hanches et de chevelures qui tournoient, qui virevoltent; mais séries aussi soumises à l’angularité d’une forme géométrique, à la profondeur d’un point de fuite, à l’aigu profond d’un regard noir, à l’obtus d’une structure en dérobade ou en trompe-l’oeil, au mur, au coin derrière lequel ces héroïnes disparaissent, non sans fixer l’objectif, inquiètes et confiantes, toujours énigmatiques, rendues, offertes, insaisissables. Et toutes ces séries, à l’image du caractère insaisissable, indéfinissable de leurs protagonistes (humains ou objets), s’ouvrent sans se dissoudre sur une fin ouverte, toujours ouverte, sans fin, scènes de la vie, jolies créatures, groupes d’enfants, fruits rouges, couloirs, sans fin, sans fin…

Charline Lancel's photonarrative universe 
Hallways, red berries, groups of children, pearl necklaces, pretty women, scènes from everyday life, casual views made peculiar through an eye that is no less peculiar... Such is the photographic universe of Charline Lancel. One could be more specific and call this universe 'photonarrative', as remote from the photonovella as one can be... Yet it is a universe filled with narrative inspiration (and aspirations), as one can see in these series of images, recounting or telling a moment in life, a moment of poetry, imbued with  mystery and sensuousness. These series, like short dances, made of curves, undulating hips and twirling feminine hair, all whirling; and yet these series are also subjected to the sharp angularity of geometric shapes and patterns, to the depth of a vanishing point, to the acute profundity of a dark gaze, to the width of an evasive structure or a sham, to the wall, to the corner behind which these nymphs disappear, not without looking into the eye of the camera, worried and trusting, always enigmatic - yielding, in offering, but always elusive. And all these series, like the elusive, undefinable nature of their protagonists (humans or objects), open up without dissolving on an open endedness, always open, endless, scenes of life, pretty girls, groups of children, red berries, hallways, never-ending, never-ending...
